Officers of the First Division – A Veteran's Organization

Officers of the First Division is a 501(c)(19) veterans' organization dedicated to preserving the history of the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division and the memory of those who fought and died with The Division.

Membership comprises officers who served in combat or peacekeeping operations with the Big Red One, and in memory of those who died fighting with The Division.

Goals of the Officers of the First Division

Carry on programs to perpetuate the memory of deceased veteran officers and soldiers of the U.S. 1st Infantry Division and comfort their survivors

Sponsor and participate in activities of a patriotic nature to include the perpetuation of the combat spirit of the 1st Infantry Division.

Provide social and recreational activities and organize ceremonial military events for its members.

Annual Dinner

On the last Saturday of April, veteran and currently serving officers of The Division gather for an annual dinner. The program has remained largely unchanged since the first gathering in 1919, including a cocktail hour, mess call, regimental colors display, regimental marches, Commanding General update on the state of The Division, and a toast to our fallen comrades, concluding with Taps and Auld Lang Syne.

Members

Membership is open to commissioned and warrant officers who served with or were attached to the 1st Infantry Division in combat and those who participated in Balkan peacekeeping operations. Dinner attendance is open to members, currently serving officers, spouses, and up to one guest per member. In addition, we have a chili luncheon, book or history presentations, and other social hubs.
